The old adage must be true:
“you can’t understand what another person is experiencing
until you have the opportunity to walk in their shoes”.
The better teachers are those who can empathize with their students concerns and frustrations in the classroom. EL students must contend with trying to make sense of their learning environment while simultaneouly decoding an unfamiliar language every day.
