English Language Learners

No one child is a carbon copy of another child.  Each of our students bring to the classroom their own unique set of circumstances.  But what about the student who enters an English speaking school and is challenged to learn a new language before he/she can begin learning the curriculum?  Is it their challenge or should it be our challenge as educators to provide a learning environment that addresses the language needs of these students?  What can we do as educators to ensure that our English Language Learner's new language needs
are appropriately met and accommodated for in today's
English speaking classroom?
