Subject: Fishing pier assembly completed

I'm very pleased to announce the completion of the assembly phase of the pier construction. There were a few challenges along the way but with great leadership from Ted Moser and Ron Shields and with numerous volunteers and members of the LMOA staff,  it was finished quickly and with great professionalism.

There are no further organized work sessions planned. Ted Moser and a couple of others will be putting the finishing touches on the project over the next few days. Ron Shields tells me that his team will do a little grading and the Lake Beautification Corps will do some landscaping next week. We will be adding a hand rail along the concrete ramp and a vehicle barrier near the junction of the ramp and the pier. We'll put up a temporary bulletin board until the permanent one has been delivered. I plan to have a brass plate installed inside the bulletin board engraved to read:

                                     Community Fishing Pier
                                Inspired by Scott Greenberg
In Memory of Bo and Teresa Lundh
                                  Funded through Donations
Built by Volunteers and LMOA Staff

Please accept my sincerest thanks and admiration. You have contributed to a wonderful amenity that will serve all members of the LMOA community and their guests. I am proud to have been a part of this effort and to have worked with you. You can take justifiable pride in your accomplishment. You completed in about three weeks what we estimated would take two and a half months! Congratulations on a job well done!

Plan to attend the official Grand Opening at 11:30 AM on Saturday, May 14. It should be day to remember.

The Pier modules are nearing completion, we have our concrete ramp installed and we are going to start attaching the pier modules early next week. The current plan is to truck the modules to Tufton Lake and attach them together on Monday, May 2. If necessary, work will continue on Tuesday May 3. Transport will be between 9:30 AM and 3:00 PM. This schedule avoids conflicts with school buses and trash collection and allows 11 days for the concrete to cure. We will plan the Grand Opening for May 14 as we have targeted for a while. The Kids Fishing Day will be scheduled for one week later on May 21.

We would like to thank our neighbors and friends for contributing snacks and water for the construction crews. We cannot begin to tell you what a great feeling it is to see this project becoming a reality with the support we have received from the community. Please be sure to join us for the Grand Opening and celebrate our community spirit.

Thanks,

Bo's Pier Group

Today is the start of the pier modules being constructed at the LMOA Maintenance Facility.  A prototype module is being built to give our construction volunteers experience and provide a model for the remaining modules to be constructed by over 40 additional volunteers. When completed, they will be trucked to Tufton Lake, floated and connected.

Construction will begin on the concrete ramp shortly. Forms for the ramp will be constructed at the site. The concrete has been funded entirely by a donation from the family of Bo’s wife, Teresa Lundh.
