"Everyone seems to have a clear idea of how other people people should lead their lives, but none about his own."
--The Alchemist
PICTURE this out: In 100 individuals enrolling in a primary school, more or less 50 of them get a chance to go to high school and roughly 25 of this number are able to pursue college education.
Only 10 finally get their diploma and then take board exams if applicable. I got news for you: Only 1 out of 10 graduates that we produce is employed.
Many of us spend our lifetime living someone else's decision. Walk away from the 95% of people who doesn't make and mange the right decision. The bad news about not making a decision is that you actually are making one.
In the first part of this chapter, I have shared my personal experience.
Passionate in journalism, I enrolled as Electronics and Communications Engineering. Why did I do so? Who were behind my decision to take such path? How did I personally manage the "bad" decision I made? Do you see yourself in me? Find out.
The first chapter also tells us the value of saying "no." It gives us a glimpse on how successful people like Company B's founder Francis J. Kong had used the first weapon to succeed.
Many people have succeeded because of their decision to do so. And it all started there. The first step is always the hardest to take. But taking such step is the beginning of something that we wish to accomplish.
The first weapon also suggests that we get away from the "losers"--those people who don't value the capsule of time and those who don't have the proper attitude.
In the end, you'll learn how to simply make and manage your own decision. |
