Because the school doesn't have a car park if you drive you'll need to park in the roads near to the school. Residents are used to this. When you arrive at the school please go to the reception to sign in and from there make your way to a portacabin called The Quad. It's not a big site so you won't get lost! The school is situated at the end of Bishop's Road: Monthly Horsham meetings are held from 10am to 12noon at The Needles Children and Family Centre, off Blackbridge Lane, RH12 1RS. Easily accessible for those of you in Horsham and surrounding villages, possibly Crawley too. The centre is a five minute walk from Horsham Bus Station. Call 01403 732702 for more details.
What happens at an LLL Meeting?
![]() You don't need to have a breastfeeding problem to come to meetings! Breastfeeding mothers (both members and non members of LLL), pregnant or new mums, and those who have been breastfeeding for longer, are all welcome. It's a nice opportunity to be with other breastfeeding mothers. It's a particularly good idea to come along when you're pregnant—you can find out more about feeding your baby from mums who are already doing it.
![]() Once everyone had had a chance to arrive and get refreshments, our discussion is opened by one of the group's leaders Sue, Michelle, Lois, Katie or Efrat, and we all introduce ourselves and our little ones.
Teas, coffees, biscuits and healthy snacks are available. The group's library of books and leaflets about breastfeeding and parenting is on display for you to browse or borrow. We usually have our sling/carrier library available too. Sometimes mums ask to speak to a Leader (breastfeeding counsellor) privately to get help with breastfeeding problems. Many mums bring older toddlers along too—all children are welcome.
During the meeting mums often move around while taking care of their children's needs. We do ask that you encourage your little ones to settle to quieter activities during the discussion part of the meeting so that everyone can hear.
Although we offer memberships you don't have to join to come along to meetings. Becoming a member is a way of supporting your local group and the national charity financially. Your subscription brings you copies of our bimonthly magazine, Breastfeeding Matters—an LLL meeting in a handy A5 format—plus free borrowing of our group library books. Your support helps us continue to help mothers with breastfeeding both locally and nationally. If you decide not to subscribe, you might consider giving a small donation or something for the refreshments table when you come to a meeting.
