Presented at 2009 Annual Meeting of American Sociological Association, San Franciso

Abstract:
A large number of studies in sociology have identified many organizational attributes that have profound impact on opportunity, mobility, and inequality within and across firms, including organizational size, grwoth rate, demography, unionization, technology. This paper examines an important but generally ignored cluster of organizational attributes – corporate governance features. This paper reviews three linkages (ownership structures, executive and managerial compensation, and board compositions) between corporate governance and stratification.
