What is
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy?
(.pdf)

"I have been practicing a bit with family and friends.  The principles
we learned in the courses were so helpful, not only for the
therapeutic environment, but also for dealing with reactions to
everyday issues.  Thank you so much for helping to provide these
courses. They have meant a lot to me, and I really support the great
work that you are doing."

"Verbal Skills for Body-Centered Trauma Resolution"

Wed. April 28 - Sun. May 2, 2010

Price: $700

(early registration by January 2010, $750 reg. price)

Colorado School of Energy Studies

Instructor:  John Chitty RPP, RCST®

Program Coordinator:  Leyla Castro RCST®

This five-day seminar presents John's methods for providing verbal support with clients who are primarily seeking and expecting body-focused therapy such as craniosacral or polarity therapy. The methods draw on several branches of therapeutic theory including Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, Peter Levine's trauma resolution and Stephen Porges' Polyvagal Theory, as well as the energy anatomy contained in Polarity Therapy.

The format of the seminar will include lecture and exercises in the mornings and practical applications in the afternoons.

Wednesday- Overview and a little history, energy anatomy, body reading, body-low-slow loop
Thursday- Resonance, body reading and intro to the two chair method
Friday- Sun and moon archetypes, Demonstration, two chair method including regression
Saturday- Five element theory and body reading, Demonstration, more body reading
Sunday- Summary and applications in table work

This is generally intended to be a post-graduate seminar for biodynamic craniosacral graduates, however care will be taken to keep it accessible and understandable for other who have a strong background in other areas listed above such as Peter Levine, Polarity Therapy or others. Knowledge of Porges' Polyvagal model is helpful but not essential, however it will not be fully covered again in this seminar, so advance attendance in a study group would be helpful for those who have not attended the biodynamic craniosacral course.

Learn a body-centered approach to therapeutic intervention, deepen your relational and perceptual skills, study living anatomy and minimize interruption of your clients' process by understanding how the Social, Sympathetic and Parasympathetic Nervous System work.

This training is recognized by The Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy Association of North America and The International Affiliation of Biodynamic Training and it offers CEs.  Only 15 students will be admitted into the program .

Due to its gentle approach and lasting effects, the Biodynamic concept has been adopted by bodyworkers of all modalities, psychotherapists, nurses and midwives worldwide.

At the still point of the turning world. Neither flesh nor fleshless;
Neither from nor towards; at the still point, there the dance is,
But neither arrest nor movement. And do not call it fixity,
Where past and future are gathered. Neither movement from nor towards,
Neither ascent nor decline. Except for the point, the still point,
There would be no dance, and there is only the dance.
                                                         ~T.S. Eliot, "Burnt Norton"

A skilled Craniosacral practitioner listens to the subtle pulsations of the system as the body tells its story. The body speaks through its rhythms, micromovements and especially through its patterns of stress and resistance. With deep listening the practitioner encourages revitalization of the inherent healing potential of the system, and facilitates the release of resistance patterns. This approach emphasizes hearing the health of the system and encouraging its expression.

Craniosacral Therapy involves gentle hands-on work which honors the client's own self-healing process. The intention is not to "fix" problems, but rather to encourage the emergence of new levels of order in mind and body. Practitioners know how to recognize the presence of the Breath of Life in many levels and locations of the body, and use appropriate methods to support and nurture its natural expression.

"Biodynamic" Craniosacral Therapy here refers to the approach developed by Franklyn Sills, RCST®, of Karuna Institute in Devon, England. The term "Biodynamic" is not exclusive to Sills' work, but we use it here based on its presence in the title of Sills' book, Craniosacral Biodynamics.
