Great News in 6th Grade...
  • We had a new member of our class, Devon, join us this month. Welcome! We continue to grow this year! :)

  • This month, we continue to work on our abilities to analyze literature, poetry and nonfiction pieces, using a variety of reading strategies. The students just finished up their poetry portfolios and we are sharing them this week at our Coffee House. Now, we are moving into the "Slice of Life" Writing Challenge - where the students are challenged to journal or blog about the life each day in writing and/or at home. This is a month long challenge to encourage daily writing as a healthy habit.

    - In Social Studies, we continue to learn about reading and writing nonfiction. Recently, we've focused on determining facts and opinions, making inferences, as well as note taking about pieces related to the Middle Ages - The Reformation, Counter-Reformation,  Age of Exploration and Scientific Revolution.

Upcoming Events:

- March 1-31st: Slice of Life Challenge in Writing Workshop

- March 2nd : Trip to Big Ten Women's Tournament @ Banker's Life Arena

- March 9th: Trip to Scecina for "The Wiz"

- March 20th: JA Biztown

- March 23rd: Talent Show & Radio Disney @ LF

- March 26th - 31st: Spring Break!
