Getting Started as a Volunteer

"What volunteers bring is the human touch, the individual, caring approach that no government program, however well-meaning and well-executed, can deliver." - Edward James Olmos

Learning about Literacy Source and our Volunteer Opportunities

All volunteers start by attending an orientation. Orientations are held on the FIRST THURSDAY of every month at 1 and 7 pm. Before you begin volunteering, you will:
  • Complete a volunteer information form.
  • Schedule an interview with a Literacy Source staff member.
  • Complete pre-service training.

Continue Growing through Training

We also encourage you to pursue additional training opportunities during your time at Literacy Source.

As you volunteer, you will certainly have questions that are not addressed on this site. Don't hesitate to talk to a staff member for help.
