Meet Your Orchestra Directors

Joshua Reznicow (1975) is an active composer, music educator, and guest conductor for youth and honor orchestras. For over 20 years he has taught middle school and high school students in the Linn-Mar Community School District. Under his direction, the Linn-Mar orchestras have won several awards and superior ratings at area and regional contests, as well as twice being named a Grammy Signature music program. Mr. Reznicow won the 2005 Texas Orchestra Directors Association (TODA) annual composition contest and was named the 2011 Classroom Teacher of the Year for the State of Iowa, as well as earning a Distinguished Alumnus Award from The University of Northern Iowa.


Mr. Reznicow has been commissioned and performed throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe with works for professional and young groups alike, including string orchestra, full orchestra, concert bands, film, and chamber ensembles. He has had multiple performances at the International Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, and has been featured on J.W. Pepper’s “Editor Choice List” for string publications on several occasions. Mr. Reznicow has multiple compositions published by TRN Music Publishers, Tempo Press, Kendor Music, Ludwig Masters, and Latham Music Publishers.


Mr. Reznicow is a member of several professional organizations including the American String Teacher Association (ASTA), the Iowa String Teacher Association (ISTA) where he served as Member at Large-East on their board of directors, the Iowa Composers Forum (ICF) where he was a past secretary on for their board of directors, and he is currently serving on the Iowa String Orchestra Affairs Committee (SOAC), as well as holding the assistant coordinator position for the Iowa All-State Orchestra. Mr. Thad Sentman


A native of Cedar Rapids, Thad Sentman is a graduate of both Cedar Rapids Washington and Coe College, as well as the University of Northern Iowa. He holds degrees in composition and theory, cello performance, and orchestra conducting.Mr. Sentman began playing the cello at the age of 4, and his life's musical journey has marched on since. He is has had the pleasure and privilege of performing all of the United States and Europe. Highlights of his musical journey included performances at Carnegie Hall and St. Marks Basilica in Venice.

Besides music, Mr. Sentman has always had a strong interest in a wide array of subjects and activities. He is somewhat of a technophile and almost became a mathematician. Being the son of a librarian he is also a prodigious reader. History (especially colonial American), language, current events, college athletics, and oil painting round out other areas of interest.

Thad is married to Rebecca and has two children Joshua and Daniel. The household is rounded out with their dog Nikki and three cats; Lacy, Avery, and Mitsukaru.
