Linn County Rural Land Use Plan Update

Welcome to the Linn County Rural Land Use Plan Update Website. We have begun updating the current plan, a process that will last until 2013. Here, you have access to all types of updates and information related to the Rural Land Use Plan (RLUP) Update.

The original Rural Land Use Plan was adopted in 2000 and was created with 4 objectives in mind:
  • Provide a clear, understandable, and widely supported vision for land use in Linn County, Iowa to the year 2020;
  • Ensure that the community's vision is considered during the public policy decision-making process;
  • Guides growth and change to achieve economic benefits while protecting environmental quality and local cultural values; and
  • Encourages intergovernmental cooperation between the unincorporated and incorporated areas of the County.
While we consider these ideas ongoing, the plan update process presents an opportunity for the County to reexamine its planning policies.

It is our goal that you, the citizens of Linn County, be the guiding voice for how the County will grow and develop. A great way to do this is to give us your opinions and ideas. Check out the Events Page under Public Participation to see when we will be coming to a place near you.

If you would like, you can tell us your ideas by checking out the Online Survey & Feedback Page for ways to contact us directly or to participate in an on-line survey.

If you have an interest in one of the seven Rural Land Use Plan topics and want to do more than just fill out the survey, please sign up to be a member of a Work Group by contacting Les Beck at les.beck@linncounty.org. The Work Group topics include:
