On Thursday 26 November from 7;00pm to 8.30 pm the National Library of Scotland will host a rare opportunity to see a selection from the Library's collections looking at food in Scotland. Olive Geddes, one of the National Library's curators, will introduce items including household accounts and menus fromthe homes of the wealthy, to cookery books old and new. In addition, there will be a chance to see clips from the Scottish Screen Archive. The evening will start and finish with refreshments (including organic wine and soft drinks) and a chance to look at the Library's regular exhibitors. The event is £3.00 for Slow Food members and £4.00 for non-members. Please contact the Library to register to assist with the catering - telephone Jo Arden on 0131 623 3725, email jarden@nls.uk |
10 interested members turned up and were treated to an interesting description of the Library's materials by the very knowledgeable Olive Geddes - from cookbooks dated from 1608 to the present day. Much enjoyed by everyone.
