At the AGM held in Livingston's Restaurant on 8th February 2011 we reviewed the previous year's activities, and reluctantly concluded that the Group had reduced to a size that it meant it was no longer viable, and that we should amalgamate with Slow Goof Edinburgh.
A further meeting will be scheduled to deal with the transfer of assets, and use of the remaining Bank Balance to provide a food related feature in Linlithgow - possible fruit trees in the Orchard.
The minutes of the meeting are attached in the Downloads Section. |

At our stall we provided healthy snacks for kids and adults alike - oatcakes with Venison pate and smoked salmon mousse, cheese slices made with puff pastry, spinach and Scottish cheddar (Lairig Gru) and Goats cheese (Glazert), and also Frangipane tarts made with locally supplied strawberries and raspberries. To drink we had pressed apple juice from Kent.
The event went well, and the food was served by Michael, Rebecca and Alan, with Carol giving much help in the setting up of the stall.
Our thanks to: · Clarks Fine Foods for donating the Lairig
Gru and Glazert Cheeses
· Findlaters of Linlithgow for donating the
Venison and Pancetta poached in whisky pate
· Craigies Farm for supplying the
Strawberries and Raspberries
· Cress company of Dunfermline for supplying
the Benbecula Oatcakes
· Chegworth Valley company of Kent for
donating the Apple Juice
- Carlien
of Patisserie Dujardin for making the delicious frangipane tarts

For the second straight year, Slow Food UK will be showcasing a range of fantastic Scottish producers within the Slow Food Pavilion at the BBC Good Food Show Scotland (the official show partner of Slow Food UK during 2009). Thanks to our sponsors, The Balvenie Single Malt & Grana Padano, we are able to offer bursary & supported stands to small Scottish producers who otherwise wouldn't have the resources to appear at a show of this scale (the show attracts 15,000 visitors over 3 days), thus giving them the to introduce themselves to a far wider audience. Convivia around the country nominated dozens of producers and following a varied and fascinating tasting session - from rich hand-raised pork pies to artisan ales - we are extremely pleased to announce the Bursary Award Winners for the 2009 show; Acanthus Hand Raised Pies – traditional, artisan, hand raised meat pies from Glasgow Dumachloy Rosie Veal – sustainably produced veal from the Isle of Bute Different Breid – traditional, organic sourdough breads from Glasgow Great Glen Game – smoked and cured venison from Fort William Peelham Farm Produce – organic, native breed meats from the Borders Traquair House Brewery – artisan ales from an historical microbrewery in the Borders The final list of all the producers within the pavillion will be announced shortly & we'll update the list. More generally this year's BBC Good Food Show Scotland is packed with new attractions and gourmet foods; with over 200 producers and some of TV's top celebrity chefs, it'll be a day to remember. Just like last year, Slow Food UK will be running a whole range of Taste Workshops over the three days, offering a rare chance to sample the finest food and drink being reared, grown or brewed by some of the Scotland’s best small producers. During each of the workshops producers will explain areas of our food heritage and how that reflects in the flavour and quality of what we eat.
The Slow Food Pavilion will also be at the BBC Good Food Shows in Birmingham & London, with producers local to those regions. To find out more about these shows & what producers will feature visit the Slow Food UK Events page.
Volunteering While the producers staff their individual stands, the pavilion itself requires volunteers from Slow Food to answer questions on the movement, promote the pavilion around the show & lend the occasional hand to the producer. Volunteering has its advantages; a unique look behind the scenes at a major event, the chance to find out far more about Slow Food & some wonderful artisan producers and, of course, free entry to the show & plenty of opportunity to explore. To volunteer please e-mail us before Friday, 9th of October. |
