FROM ROBERT SMAUS, LOS ANGELES TIMES FORMER GARDEN EDITOR
Sitting in or walking through one of Linda Estrin's gardens is a visual treat and recalls nature’s great beauty and diversity. Hers are strong compositions, as bold as a Persian rug, living tapestries woven from many kinds and varieties of plants. There are no dull space-holders in Linda's gardens. Each plant is carefully considered and chosen. Some jump out, while others subtly weave and blend. Soft shades of ground-covering gray and gray-green suddenly explode into spiky red leaves—this warm color is then repeated nearby. She often uses plants that are rare and overlooked by others, combining them in new, exciting ways. All of this results in gardens that are unmistakably California, with its sharp, bright sunlight and warm, dry climate.
