Tammy Wang ![]() Dancing since age 4, Tammy’s repertoire has included ballet, jazz, tap, modern, hip hop, ballroom, Argentine Tango, salsa and swing. She took her first Lindy Hop steps with the Queen's Swing Club in October 2002 and instantly fell in love with this joyful, exuberant dance form. In January 2004, Tammy began teaching for the QSC, drawing on her passion for Lindy Hop, Charleston, Balboa and Blues. She has since taught, organized, choreographed and performed swing dancing for countless events on the Queen's campus and within the Kingston community. In 2006, Tammy co-founded the Swinger's Dozen, a performance troupe that would go on to take 3rd place in the Cabaret Division at that year's Canadian Swing Championships in Montreal, Quebec. She has also found success in partnered social/improvised competitions at the CSC, including 2nd place in Open Balboa Jack & Jill (2005), 3rd place in Open Lindy Jack & Jill (2005), and 6th place in "Just Do It (Strictly Lindy)" (2006). Most recently, in April 2009, she placed 1st at Blues Blast II in Ottawa, earning an invitation to represent Canada in the Champions Division at BluesSHOUT! in Chicago. Known as a playful and graceful dancer among her peers, Tammy strives to help students understand body movement, connect with their partners and the music, and express their creativity. She continues to seek inspiration and improvement in her own dancing by taking workshops and private lessons from some of the best swing dance instructors in the world.
