The LIK Curriculum is planned based on the six areas of learning set out in the UK early Years Curriculum. The curriculum will help children develop their physical, intellectual, emotional and social skills. The Foundation Stage Personal, Social and Emotional Development The children learn to manage their emotional well-being. Children will develop a sense of belonging and form positive relationships with others. Children will also develop their self-confidence and self-control. Communication, Language and Literacy The children will learn to communicate, speak and listen to others. They will explore different situations, events and ideas around them. The children will also learn a love of books, stories, rhymes and music. Mathematical Development The children will develop skills in counting, sorting, matching, patterning, shape, space and measurement. They will be developing an understanding of Mathematics through stories, songs and games. Knowledge and Understanding of the World In this area, the children will learn to develop crucial knowledge, skills and understanding about the world. They will also learn about different cultures and how everyone is special in their own unique way. Physical Development Children will begin to improve their skills of co-ordination, control, manipulation and movement through different indoor and outdoor activities. Creative Development This is a very important area of learning. Through art, music, dance, role-play and imaginative play children would be encouraged to express themselves freely in many different ways. They will also learn to make connections between areas of learning. |
