Monday, April 30th
** We will have a Team Celebration on Thursday for students with no missing work. All work must be turned in on time to attend: Social Studies must be turned in by the end of the day Tuesday; all other classes by the end of the day (2:20, not 3:00) on Wednesday **
Language Arts: Read at least 30 minutes. Get costume and food together for Coffeehouse on Thursday (don't wait until Wednesday night to tell your parents you need something!!) Character File for those who have not turned it in.
Math: 4th only - Pythagorean Theory worksheet
Science: vocabulary - occluded, maritime, continental, front
Social Studies - missing work due tomorrow! |

Social Studies: Updated progress reports were sent home today. Mrs. Russell will be out Wednesday, so if you want your make-up work included on your "real" progress report Thursday, the work needs to be to her tomorrow!

Spring Break!
Your official homework is to get lots of rest so you come back refreshed and ready to finish the year out in a great way!
Your unofficial homework is to get caught up on anything you're missing, because it will make life much easier when you return!
Remember, this is a great chance to work on your Character File. These are due Friday, April 20th, which will only leave you FOUR DAYS when we return from break! If you come back on Monday with nothing done, you're going to have a hard time finishing!!

Language Arts EOG Test Prep
The best way to prepare for the EOG is to continue reading as much as you can! However, if you would like to review or study specific skills, some of the sites below may be helpful. Character and Mood Words - These words are often the answer choices on those questions that say "Which words best describe ____". These words are typically NOT in the passage, so if you don't know what they mean, you can't answer the question!! These are words that 7th graders typically don't use, so you may need to study them! Figurative Language - simile, metaphor, personfication, alliteration, onomatopoeia. Lots of you have said you have trouble keeping these straight. This baseball-style game may help you practice. Remember, the best way to play is to look at the example, decide for yourself what it is, then pitch the ball. General Reading Passages - if you feel you need to practice your test-taking skills (highlighting, finding answers in the text, managing your time, etc), this site has free passages to practice on. Choose from the grade 5+ passages... they're harder than you think! |

The third quarter ends this Friday! Missing work is due in most classes BEFORE this date! Please be sure to check with your teachers or check PAM online to make sure you have everything caught up and turned in before grades are finalized!!

8th grade registration forms were sent home Monday. We cannot take these forms until they are completely filled out, so please be sure to follow directions carefully!! The sooner you turn them in, the better chance you have of getting the classes you want! :)

Progress Reports and Online Grades
Progress reports went home in ALL subject areas today. Please check with your child for these. Please return them signed as soon as possible.
A letter was also sent home about the Parent Assist Module that allows parents to view student grades online. Please ask your child for this letter! In order to use the program, you must have a user name and password supplied by the school. These must be picked up in person at the following times and places, or in the front office during normal business hours.
- February 16th- Carrington Night Out (N. Duke) at El Rodeo from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
- February 16th- Carrington Media Center 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.
- February 16th- Staff Development Center from 6:00 p.m. – 7 :00 p.m.
- February 17th- Carrington Media Center 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
- February 24th- Carrington Median Center 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
