Opensource applications used by Libre Livre include:

Ubuntu operating system - this is brilliant and we have been using it for over two years now with no problems

Turbocash accounting - we started out using this, but were less than happy with its ability to produce a history for any  particular account.  We have now changed to Gnucash, of which we have high hopes

Gwenview is the program we use for organizing and viewing our photos

OpenOffice for office applications such as word processing, spreadsheet modeling, databases, presentations and more.    We think OO is fantastic for a whole host of reasons; ability to generate pdf  files, easy compatibility with Microsoft Office & Google Docs (another great application), and good  comprehensive Help facility  to name but a few

GIMP and gThumb are our choice for photo-editing.  GIMP is full of advanced features, while gThumb easily handles tasks such as re-sizing in a quick and straightforward way.
