Located in the Catawba Valley of North Carolina, I am a studio potter working in stoneware and porcelain clays. I seek to create both functional and decorative contemporary pots. I have an undergraduate education in Ceramics which was based mostly on handbuilt sculpture, though throwing on the wheel has always been my preference. My sculpture differed from my pots in that they were heavily textured with rough, raw surfaces.  My pottery, on the other hand, is much more simplistic in design with great attention payed to form and finishing.  Recently, I have become interested in merging my two styles to create pots that utilize carvings and texture in a more refined manner than my sculpture did. I am happy with the results so far and plan to continue working and perfecting this style of making pots.
