In eighth grade differentiated curriculum occurs through
class placement in math and through differentiated instruction by
classroom teachers. Please see the PowerPoint presentation attached
below (Have They ACED the Curriculum?) for details on how this is accomplished. The social studies sequence in Lexington City Schools is one year ahead of many school districts in Virginia. All of our 7th grade students take Civics, which allows them the opportunity to earn a high school credit in World History in eighth grade. Foreign language offerings are also an excellent choice for students who have been identified as gifted in language arts (humanities), as students can also earn high school credit for foreign language. Technical Drawing is another elective that offers high school credit. |
