Mar 25, 2009 Top 5 Reasons to Update Your Release

Leading Edge Software is proud of the track record we have for listening to our clients and providing regular updates to both our Front Office and Back Office products to meet and exceed their needs.  We are constantly looking for innovative enhancements to streamline your operations.
 
When we publish new releases, they include a combination of patches intended to correct reported problems, as well as new features based on specifications provided by clients that think of ways to improve either a function or report to enable them to perform their jobs more efficiently.
 
Five Good Reasons to Update Your Release 
  1. Stability:  The environment in which Commander operates often changes in a way that requires updates to the program to support the changes.  For example, a couple of years ago we upgraded from ACCESS databases to SQLExpress databases.  Both are provided free of charge from Microsoft but the newer SQLExpress database is much more stable which results in a lot less maintenance for our clients.  We also wanted to enable Real Estate Offices to take advantage of new features that this database provided like automatic backup.  Another example is that we had to implement patches to support security related updates implemented by Microsoft to various of their components, as well as enhancements to messages distributed by e-mail which were needed to improve security related to all the spam everyone is experiencing.
  2. SNPP:   Read more about this feature which enables messages to be sent much faster and more reliably.  The most important thing to know is that Rogers has already notified us that TAP (dial up paging) will be discontinued early in 2009, possibly in Q1.  We encourage all clients to begin the transition now to ensure they are prepared and operating with SNPP so they don't have to scramble at the last minute.
  3. Sign In/Out Report:  Mgt Reports / Audit / Sign In Out report in Commander Front Office now has an option to sort by person.  Managers can now easily verify support staff working hours and how much time Sales Representatives spend checking their information in Web Access.
  4. Alerts automatically when updates are available:  With the releases published in the first quarter of 2009 we have added a new feature to alert you of updates available when you first log in to Commander.  This enables everyone to stay in touch with the timing and availability of releases.  We hope that the convenience of this feature will further enable you to keep quick!Office Commander updated to ensure your office gets the benefits of our commitment to delivering the best products and services for Real Estate Office management software.
  5. You paid for it:  We can't think of an easier way to say this than plain and simple.  All companies that subscribe to a Relationship Contract take advantage of the fact that updates are available.  You paid for it - you may as well use it!

How can you find what version is currently installed and what version you should have

 

The version of Commander Front Office you are currently using is displayed in the top blue line above the Menus: quick!Office Commander Version X.XX.  The version of Commander Back Office you are currently using can be seen under Help / About.
