Student to Student

Dear AP Environmental Science Students,

Welcome to your not-so-typical science course. I’m a former student of Ms. Lepper’s from Terry Parker High School who made a 4 on the 2008 AP Environmental Science Test. I have found that the usual science course has homework and/or class work everyday and so many formulas to memorize with equal or greater amounts of calculations to practice that my head felt like spinning.

In this course you’ll learn how the environment is being affected by our actions and what may occur in the near future. The good side to this class is the lack of excessive amounts of homework and little calculations needed to complete your work. To succeed in this class you must know when to listen and take notes. Even if your class is filled with talkers and those who don’t care about that course, listen and do your work to the best of your abilities because you’ll still learn something. When a help session is offered, take every opportunity to get even a little bit of help.

Over this last year, I have learned something that can help everyone when they need to write any type of paper including those on the AP tests. If you want someone to listen to you and you find writing difficult, just write like how you would talk. Not writing with slang and text talk, but writing like how you argue something when you’re talking out loud. You may get more material than you need, but you will have more than you would have had. And be sure to back up all your arguments with facts, it’s very important.

The point of succeeding in this class is to gain knowledge that can help you live a greener life and help the environment. So hush up, take notes, be respectful in class, go to study sessions when they are offered, do any work that is assigned and try getting to a study guide early on in the course. Reading ahead in the text books is not so bad either.

I personally found this course to be easy and the questions on the test seemed to be commonsense. You may have a different opinion, but to each their own.

Sincerely,

Kimberly E.
