How it works: Each participant has from now until the end of the summer to build a LEGO® masterpiece. On the day of the fundraiser, each participant will display his or her masterpiece from 10am-1pm at the location decided upon (TBA). Each masterpiece will have a corresponding donation jar, which friends, family, and the general public will place their money in to "judge" the masterpieces. The masterpiece with the most money in their jar at the end of the fundraiser will be the grand prize winner.
Every participant will receive a prize for their efforts. Only the first 100 people to register will get to participate. Participants may work in groups of up to three people and there is no age limit.
The categories this year are, "Most Money Raised", "Morgan's Favorite", "Most Unique", "Most Creative", "Most Complex", "Fastest LEGO Robotic Masterpiece", and "Spirit of MDA". Please see the Rules and Helpful Hints page for more information.
The Cause: Muscular Dystrophy "Muscular dystrophy" is an umbrella term which designates a group of over 40 hereditary muscle-destroying disorders that vary in inheritance pattern, age of onset, initial muscles attacked, and rate of progression. MDA works to combat the effects of these diseases by funding cutting-edge research, providing medical help and social support to individuals affected by the disease, and by advocacy for the cause. There are over 300 research initiatives funded by MDA worldwide.
