·
We have been learning many letters and their sounds. We also have been
working on writing those letters.
The letters we have been working on are Ee, Pp, Vv, Cc, Ii, Oo, Qq, Zz,
and Kk. We practice the letters using many different techniques including
writing on paper, white boards and chalkboards. We also make the letters by
writing in the air, using Play dough, and also as part of our class yoga.
·
We have read the Scott Foresman selection From Head To Toe and Mice
Squeak, We Speak.
·
The skills emphasized in these stories were compare and contrast,
rhyming, and retelling.
·
The children will be working on two rhyming games that they will be
bringing home to practice. You may
keep the games at home.
·
The take home readers are for you to keep. We send them home usually on Thursdays.
·
In Math we are learning about shapes and also are making a number
book. We will be using the pattern
blocks this week. The children
really enjoy these!
·
We had our own lemonade stand and had a good time learning about
lemons. We squeezed fresh
lemons for the lemonade and used play money to purchase it in class.
·
We are learning about sunflowers this week and will be learning about
spiders this month also.
·
The children have completed Dibels testing which is done
school-wide. I will share those
results with you at the November conferences. I will also assess students in
the classroom. I will share the results with you at conferences as well.
·
Thank you for all of the wonder Play dough and other supplies that you
have sent in for our class.
·
I will be contacting you soon about our Halloween party. The children
are permitted to wear costumes that day.
The party will be on Friday, October 30th.
·
It can be chilly at recess, so students may need a jacket to wear. Any help you can give us in teaching
your child how to zip, would be great!
·
Have a wonderful week and enjoy the autumn weather and beautiful
leaves!
