This region in France is little-known but has a lot to offer. It's an ideal location for hiking lovers, wether it is for walking, biking and even horse-riding. We have signposted some roundwalks from Le Douvet for you and we can also provide you with maps to explore the area at your own leisure.

 

If you're fond of sports and are not afraid of a steap hill or muddy puddle here and there you will enjoy the numerous mountainbike trails. There are beautiful trails around the lakes, and through the forest close to our farm. If you do'nt want to bring your own bike, there are several places where you can hire one for a day or a week.

 

Are you more at home at the waterfront? You will definitely enjoy the lakes and rivers around Le Douvet. You can go fishing in the Charente, down in Suris, or go for bigger fish in one of the many fishlakes in the area. The river Vienne at only 3 km from our farm, offers splendid canoe trips. The lakes of the Haute Charente provide for excellent swimming, sailing  and windsurfing, as well as fishing. 

If you are more interested into culture and old monuments, there are lots of historic spots. The Charente has a wide sample of beautiful old castles, monasteries and abbeys in which music festivals are often organised. There are lots of little pittoresque towns in the area such as Confolens, Rochechouart en La Rochefoucault. And of course the famous archaeological site of Chassenon where you can discover the ancient roman hot baths. The cities of Limoges and Angouleme are not far either and certainly worth a visit too!
