Overview

On a Sunday afternoon in mid-November your senior high youth group and adults of our church work together to rake yards in our community.   People who have their yard raked give a financial donation to the local charity (in our case, the money goes to our local food pantry, Loaves and Fishes).  We have found this to be an excellent win-win situation for many reasons.  It has been a very rewarding experience for everyone involved, meeting two significant needs in our community at the same time with many added benefits.

Mission

Our mission is to combine the enthusiasm of youth and dedication of adults to engage in a one-day service project to provide both leaf-raking assistance in our community and financial support to our local food bank.

Purpose of this Site

Our church youth group has done this "Leaves for Loaves and Fishes" leaf-raking service project every November since 2005.  On this website we will explain the rationale and benefits we have found and the steps of preparation and planning we have used to make it successful. Our hope is that other groups might engage in a similar leaf-raking service project. As a general guideline, we will describe how we have done it.  However, your group will need to modify these recommendations to fit your group and your situation.  If you have questions, we would be happy to visit with you.  Our contact information can be found on the about us page.
