Activities

Activity 1:  Fill out the "Who Are We" form.  When  you are done,  close out the confirmation (X out)  and pass the computer to another participant.  Help them find the link and start filling out the form.

Activity 2:  Examine Google Forms/ Spreadsheet Data and Graphs Features
  • Using Google Docs
  • Using Google Sites
Activity 3: Collaborative Data Collection - Using Google Spreadsheets
Log on to Google using the Username and password assigned to your table.

1.  Predict the most frequent M & M color.  Write it on a scrap piece of paper.
2.  Open the sprreadsheet  Graphing M&M
3.  Turn on the 'discuss' feature   Enter your guess in the discuss window.
4.  Open the M & M packages at your table.
5.  Enter your M&M data in the shared spreadsheet table.
6.  Check out the tally as everyone enters their data.
7.  The winning guess can eat their M&M.  The winners get to decide what the other table have to do with their M&M's.
8.  Let's explore some of the other gadgets you can enter in your spreadsheet.

Activity 4: Collaborating using Google Presentation Tools  (a.k.a. PowerPoint)
  • Join one your assigned team at one of the tables in this room.
  • Log on
  • Open the Google Docs named  Safety and Ethics Project
  • Read the directions on Slide 2 and 3
  • Find the slide that matches your table name
  • Discuss and enter your contribution
  • When complete watch the presentation and participate in backchannel chats with your comments.

Activity 5:
  Exploring Google Docs - Speed Writing

  1. Create a New Document (Text) 
  2. Name it  "Table n Progressive Story'
  3. Type in the statement "It was a dark and stormy night"
  4. Share it with the "next" Table.
  5. Open your new document (you might need to refresh you 'doc' screen.
  6. Add the next part of the story.  Unitil the bell rings.
  7. (Repeat Step 4.  Continue until it's time to stop.
