Sunday, join us for our opening Reception and Awards Ceremony; a day of honoring individuals for outstanding educational achievement. Be sure to make it in time to hear excerpts from our award winning essayists, from K-12 who will highlight My Story: The Person Who Inspired Me. You won’t want to miss our keynote speaker, Jean-Claude Brizard, and the opening of our exhibit: Tell Us Your Story!

Educator Awards: This award celebrates individuals recognized for outstanding educational achievements. Nominees include heads of schools; elementary/secondary school teachers and staff members; preschool teachers; higher education faculty and support staff members; parents; program directors; and educators in our community. To nominate an outstanding educator for this award, click here.
 
My Story: The Person Who Inspired Me: Awards will be given for student essays which celebrate people who inspired them.  For more information about submitting an essay (must be received by April 29th), click here.

Programs that Inspire: Moderator: Tom Gillett, Regional Director, NYSUT
Panel Discussion: Students and mentors discuss and share initiatives and programs which have changed and enriched the way that students learn and grow. Groups include:
  • Rochester Literacy Movement: Daryl Dickson, Director, Rochester Education & Literacy Commission
  • Project Lead the Way: Brett Handley, Wheatland-Chili City School District; Jennifer Wilson, Student, Wheatland-Chili High School
  • F.I.R.S.T. Robotics: Glen Pearson, Regional Director; Ross Temple, Student, Churchville-Chili High School
  • Monroe County Library System: Patricia Uttaro, Director
 
Creative Schooling: Moderator: Mary Ellen Spennacchio-Wagner, Director, Center for Workforce Development, BOCES 2
Panel Discussion: Schooling programs which are unique present their innovative approaches. Each group will provide a short presentation on its particular innovative approach, and there will be time for questions. Groups include:

Lifelong Learning After 50!: Moderator: Cindee Gray, Assistant Vice President for Government and Community Relations, RIT
Panel Discussion: Programs which celebrate learning after 50 will be featured and speakers will discuss the unique opportunities which are offered in our community. Organizations will include:
  • Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at RIT: Peter Luce, Chair, Osher Council
  • New Horizons Music Organization: George Greer
 
Innovations Which Shape our Next Generation: Moderator: Dr. Albert Simone, Former President, Rochester Institute of Technology
Panel Discussion: During Challenging Times, Shining Examples of Local Innovation and CollaborationDr. Albert Simone, former President of Rochester Institute of Technology, will moderate a discussion with local college Executive Level Leadership. Our local Higher Educational Institutions will share the latest innovative technology and advances in learning which contribute to the shaping of the future of our community and the next generation of innovators and leaders. Local colleges and university representatives include:
