Each Fall LEARN hosts a theme-based family masquerade ball. All ages are welcomed into a venue that has been transformed by spectacular decorations created by the membership. The environment is further enhanced by live music, carnival games, a pot luck feast, and an array of familiar faces costumed for the festivities.
For weeks leading up to the event the LEARN community (and friends and family) are invited to take part in creating the event. Scores of decorations are papermached, painted, glittered, and glued. Games are constructed to reflect the chosen theme and gently used items are collected from the community to use for prizes. Souvenir t-shirts and bags are created to commemorate the event. Finally handmade invitations arrive in the mail and begin to set the stage for this special day of celebration.
The week of Unprom is spent on the site of the event as we add the finishing touches to the decorations and assemble it all into the final product. This long term project gives the community a chance to work together to collaborate in the creative process, make friends, develop power tool skills, eat tasty food, build multi generational relationships, listen to fun music, build a common memory, and take part in taking a concept and turning into reality.
Families are encouraged to invite loved ones to join in the fun of this annual event. Members $25/family - Guests $35/family - Individuals $10 (member) $15 (non-member)
