Create a Global Learning Perspective with Google Tools in Education

Google Maps and Google Earth offers possibilities that make wall maps drool with envy. During this hands-on session, you will create an engaging learning activity that literally takes your class around the world. You will learn how to add text, pictures, and multimedia to bring maps to life. You will also create a free Google site to share what you learn with your fellow teachers and students. Your web site will travel back with you to your classroom where you can use it as communication tool and a place to share learning resources with students, parents, and teachers.

Geocaching in Education: Exploring Your World with Google Earth

Geocaching is often described as the world's biggest treasure hunt. Join us to discover how geocaching can be used in the K-12 classroom to motivate student learning. During this hands-on session you will learn how to find geocaches hidden around the world, and in your own neighborhood. You will also experience how to use a GPS receiver (or iPhone or iPod touch) to find your very first geocache. This session will conclude with suggestions for incorporating these activities in your classroom.
