Welcome to LEAP Programme

What is LEAP?

LEAP (LEarning Archery through Play) was originally designed as a programme to bring children back to Nature. In this time of electronic games and gadgets, what LEAP can do is to promote healthy activities outdoors, using traditional archery equipment and horseback archery techniques as an outlet for fun and interactive play.

We feel that children learn best through play, when they are enjoying themselves. Our games are designed to encourage teamwork, to develop strength (as they have to run and jump quite a bit) and to develop their focus and concentration capabilities, with prizes for the winners.

These will all lead to a better overall performance in their schoolwork. This has been seen in America where the NASP (National Archery in the Schools Program) revealed their success rates in helping problematic children improve their grades along the way.

Why Archery?

Traditional archery has become a forgotten sport and a forgotten tradition. As our children are struggling in school with their schoolwork, getting sufficient exercise and maintaining focus as well as concentration in school is a challenge for them. This is where archery can prove that it is the sport that can help them.

Not only it's a fun game, it helps the mind to focus, the body to breathe, the limbs to exercise, the heart to connect and the spirit to develop.

The physical elements of archery is the use of all parts of the body and assists in developing fit, strong and robust athletes. The act of aiming helps the mind to ignore distractions and sets one's sights and clarity of purpose. Releasing of the arrow, on the other hand, reconnects the heart and soul to the concept of

'La hawla wa la quwatta illah billah
(There is no Help nor Power but God)

The very act of shooting has huge and unseen benefits and practicing archery also helps the child to learn patience.

Educators believe that if the student can be engaged in some type of extra-curricular activity, that student will make better grades and be more likely to stay in school.

Unfortunately, many common extra-curricular activities require the student to be tall, fast, strong, or otherwise athletically endowed, to enjoy success.

Archery is a life sport that circumvents traditional barriers to engage students of all genders and physical abilities, even facilitating participationand competition in students with disabilities.

According to the Lewis County Kentucky High School principal, core-content subject matter grades improved among students participating in the NASP, in America. Its programme has also shown favourable spin-off benefits, for example, there has been a reduction in behavior problems and there has been an improvement in school's attendance.
