This is as far as I know, the first website dedicated to the awesomeness of Alan Rickman and Donuts. Both are wonderful in their own right but combined lead to the most dazlious experience in this galaxy.
Not being known for my technical prowess, I should really thank everyone that helped me create this site but, apart from it sounding like a schmaltzy Oscar acceptance speech, it would also take way too long, and I'd probably forget someone causing great offense. So I'd just like to say *thank you* to the Leaky Lounge
Alan Rickman is the embodiment of Professor Snape. No one else could have portrayed the Potions Master so perfectly, because no one else can talk the talk like Alan does.
Alan has of course been the star of many movies other than Harry Potter, showing his versatility and application as an actor, to the huge variety of roles that he's played. From an actor acting as an alien in Galaxy Quest to the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood to that voice of Marvin in Hitchhikers Guide, Alan's been there and done it. He is also an accomplished stage actor.
His newest movies include Sweeney Todd which should be released on DVD in April, a month which also (at last!) sees Nobel Son go on general release having premiered a whole year ago. How are we supposed to wait a whole year having been taunted with awesome pictures of Alan at the Nobel Son red carpet premiere. Definitely a lot of Alan-ness due in April. Perfectamundo!
That countdown is getting closer to April though, a very Alan-y month. Sweeney Todd on DVD and (hopefully!) Nobel Son at my local movie theater.
Well the countdown is at 0, April-Is-Alan-Month is here! But my theater is not showing Nobel Son this month, maybe they'll get it for May. I sure hope so!
How could anyone have doubted Snape's loyalty?
One of my favorite Alan movies is Snowcake. It's truly beautiful on so many levels, from imagery and scenery thru friendship and love. It was one of the most difficult (and expensive!) DVDs to find but totally worth it, and it's already one of my all-time favorites. Some people are a little doubtful about watching Snowcake but I think it is dazlious and a rare gem. I remember before its release it had some bizarre reviews but I wonder if those people actually saw the movie (it wasnt shown at my movie theater) because the reviews sure dont bear any resemblance to the story told in the version that I saw. It's an honest and open movie, and makes no pretence when tackling more *sensitive* issues. Definitely one to watch!
Another spectacular Alan movie is the adaptation of the Jane Austen novel, Sense And Sensibility. It's thanks to Alan that I became interested in Jane Austen's other works and similar literary genres. His portrayal of Col. Brandon is so captivating and beautiful and moving that it's one of my favorite movies. Who wouldnt want to have Alan read sonnets to them!
This image above is a great crossover of Galaxy Quest and Harry Potter. Galaxy Quest is one of my favorite movies, and I dont usually like spoofs because they just come across as bitter attacks on someone or something.
But, with Galaxy Quest I feel the movie is laughing with rather than at the genre and of course Alan is absolutely fabulous in his role.

I played Richard III. There were five curtain calls. I was an actor once, damn it. Now look at me. Look at me! I won't go out there and say that stupid line one more time

You broke the ship. You broke the bloody ship.

Where's the happy ending, Jason? "Never give up, never surrender"?

Are you enjoying your Kep-mok blood ticks, Dr. Lazarus?
Just like mother used to make.
By Grabthar's hammer, Snape will be avenged!
ALAN AND DONUTS !
NON-DAIRY DONUTS !
DUDDER'S DONUTS
This is a recipe for *traditional* donuts, that is to say those not made in a donut machine. You need four 4-inch mini-bundt pans. Amazingly this recipe will then make four donuts. It's just like magic!
INGREDIENTS:
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup soy milk
1/4 cup olive oil
1/2 mashed banana
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp cinnamon sugar
Does anyone not know how to make cinnamon sugar? Method: Take 1 cup sugar & 1-2 tsp cinnamon. In a small bowl, stir together all the ingredients.
METHOD:
Preheat oven to 350F. In a large bowl stir together the sugar, flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt. Add the soy milk, oil, banana, vanilla. Stir gently. Cut dough into four and roll each section into a tube. Place into a lightly oiled bundt pan and press down. Repeat with remaining dough. Sprinkle each donut with 1/2 tbsp of cinnamon sugar and bake for 10-12 minutes. Remove from pan immediately (like you were really going to leave them in their pans and not eat them, sure)
MOOSE'S MAGICAL MACHINE DONUTS
INGREDIENTS:
1/3 cup sugar (or slightly more)
3/4 cup flour (or slightly less) and 2 tsp baking powder or yeast OR 3/4 cup (or slightly less) flour with raising agent already in it (self raising flour)
Pinch of salt
1/3 cup soy milk
2 tbsp olive oil
Egg replacer equivalent to 1 egg (follow instructions on package but usually mix up egg replacer in a seperate bowl before adding it to ingredients)
1/2 cup sugar for frosting
METHOD:
In a bowl mix together the flour, sugar, salt & raising agent if using one. Add the soy milk, egg replacer & oil. Stir until you get a liquid *dough*. Follow your machine's directions for use but usually, pour the dough using a large spoon into the rings, close machine & bake for 4-5 minutes.
Take directly from machine while hot & put onto a sugar-covered plate & roll over so as the donuts are covered in sugar. Repeat until all the dough is used.
Dont forget the most important ingredient : sprinkle them with love.
