The Alliance Chronicles
fantasy fiction by Leah Davidson
Tales of the telepathic diplomats of Vaaseli, Ravella, Xanthia, and Albrahar
In the world of the Alliance, psychic abilities are commonplace, essential to the functions of politics, religion, and commerce. Telepathic abilities are especially important in diplomacy, keeping the Peace of Alidor that makes the Alliance possible. The stories of the Alliance Chronicles follow the adventures of telepathic diplomats from four disparate cultures – the kingdom of Vaaseli, the Ravellan League, the Xanthian Empire, and the nation of Albrahar – as they work to reconcile the needs and aspirations of their nations, diverse ancient traditions, and the philosophy of Alidor. Diplomats may not always do as they see fit or think best, and their profession requires keeping an often dangerous balance between absolute ethics and political expedience. How can a philosophy of tolerance respond to ruthless ambition? How can scientific progress be reconciled with traditions springing from human harmony with nature? Will psychic powers help or hinder the pursuit of peace?

Brief History of the Alliance
Four centuries before the first story in the Alliance Chronicles, Of Two Minds, the prophet Alidor of Albrahar received visions and locutions from the Creator, and spent his life spreading the knowledge gleaned from these revelations as far as he could, first in Albrahar, and then in Ravella, where they were readily embraced as a foundation for personal and public morality. His Ravellan followers collected his teachings in the Wisdom of Alidor, and the spread of Alidorism began, to Vaaseli and Xanthia.
