Stanford Hall Weekend

June 6 - June 7 2009

The Club’s main annual event was as usual the rally in early June in the Rugby area, with a run and a dinner on the Saturday and an assembly with a concours and a driving test on the Sunday at Stanford Hall, at which the annual trophies were also presented. This year we met on the Saturday for lunch in the Blue Lias by the canal near Long Itchington, but it was unfortunately very wet. In the afternoon we proceeded to the fascinating Coventry Aircraft Museum, then on to the Golden Lion in Easenhall for dinner. Sunday morning was wet too, which must have put off a number of people, but those who braved the rain  were able to enjoy a fine afternoon with good entertainment. Here are the Saleh sisters with their 2.5 litre Sports (the featured model) in the driving test:

The Long Haul award went unsurprisingly to Bob Tomlins, who came all the way from Belgium in his 1930 P type tourer (nearest the camera below):

He also came first in the Vintage concours.

Speed Events

The famous supercharged Hypers feature prominently in vintage speed events. Here is Jeremy Brewster's very fast example winning its class at Wiscombe Park.
