The program consists of an opening session of 5-6 hours, seven topical sessions and a closing session .  Participants will commit to opening and closing sessions – and actively participate in at least five of the seven topical sessions… if not all seven.  “Homework” between sessions  includes an hour or so of independent work/reading related to the topic of the coming session, an hour or so of independent work/reading related to the leadership strand, and one activity of an hour or two in duration (either independent or with small group) – such as a police ride-along, a visit to the Frisbie emergency room, a tour of an elementary school, attendance at a City Council meeting, etc.

Please note that this assigment, done thoughtfully, is probably a 45 to 60-minute endeavor.

(1) In a paragraph, please identify and elaborate on one of the things you, personally, love most about Rochester
-- a community strength, a local resource, an intangible sense for something, whatever it might be.
Please focus on just one thing.  (If you had to pick just one thing, what would it be?)

(2) Please identify 2 or 3 things (no more) that you, personally, believe to be the most critical things we need to work on,
improve, do better, and/or change in Rochester.  Please offer a brief paragraph on each of these 2 or 3 things.

(3) Please offer a few paragraphs on how you intend to make a difference in this community moving forward
-- particularly tied to how you might work to build on or leverage the thing you identified in #1 and/or work to improve/change
the things you identified in #2.  Please be sure to include your thoughts on the kind of leader you intend to be as you work
to make a difference on these things.  (Are there particular values, philosophies, perspectives, or strategies that will guide
how you think about your role as a leader?)

Please submit all answers to John Shea via e-mail (shea.j@rochesterschools.com) no later than Friday, May 28
