Description:

Provides health, safety, disaster, and blood services locally and nationally. Hattiesburg chapter serves as the center of a relatively large area, opening many, varied opportunities for volunteers.

Volunteer opportunities:

The Red Cross emphasizes that there is great VARIETY in this avenue of service, student volunteers may do anything from data entry/donor records and tracking to tracking classes, creating certification cards, cleaning manikins, working the front desk, taking health & safety calls, and for those who are willing to make a higher commitment, they can be trained and become an instructor, be a part of a DAT (Disaster Action Team), or for the electronically inclined, possibly help with website creation/updates.

Background Check: No

Hours: Generally, Mon-Fri 8:30-4:30 (varies for special events and DATs)

Additional Requirements: Must make commitment of 2 hour time blocks per volunteer time.
