Description:
DREAM sponsors a couple of after school tutoring/delinquency prevention programs at 2 locations; at both Palmer's Crossing (see LaVee Sims) and 707 Hutchinson. As of August 2008 DREAM has been in Hattiesburg for 25 years. LaVee focuses on enrichment as well as alcohol and drug prevention and holds the program at Palmer's Crossing Monday through Thursday from 5:00-7:00. The tutoring program is held Monday through Thursday from 4:00-6:00. Students from all majors are welcome to volunteer.

Volunteer Opportunities:
Students may volunteer at any of the programs depending on their interests and even any special skills they feel they could employ.

Requirements:
There is both a background check and an application, as well as a training portion the volunteer must complete. It is preferred, especially for volunteers at the Palmer's Crossing location, that the volunteer be consistently committed and stay continue for an entire semester (at least) because of the involvement of children.

Special Notes: The people at DREAM really want this to be a good experience for the student volunteer, but also for the kids with whom they are doing their volunteer time, if you're going to work with kids, be prepared to be committed. - Linda Vasquez (summarized)
