The school was designed to serve children with severe language-speech disorders, including developmental aphasia and childhood apraxia of speech, deafness and hearing impairments, as well as those with the written language disorder of dyslexia.(usm.edu/dubard/index.html) Volunteer Opportunities: Students may volunteer in-class with the students at varying levels and differing times depending on the schedule as developed by the student and DuBard School supervisor, please note than anyone interested in volunteering here WILL BE working with children, at a fairly involved level. Requirements: There is a volunteer packet/application.There is a requirement of at LEAST 10 hours. Applications for the fall semester must be received by October 1st, and for the spring semester by March 1st. You can pick up an application at the DuBard School (which is right off Montague on Kay James on the USM campus) for more information. Students are required to log their hours for the agency.
