Aldersgate Mission Contact information: 601-544-8141 aldersgatemission@yahoo.com 402 East 2nd Street Hattiesburg, MS 39403 Description: Opening Doors - Changing Lives The mission of Aldersgate is to enhance academic, social and spiritual development of the youth of the Briarfield Community in order for them to become independent and productive young men and women of the world. Aldersgate is an after school program for children ages 5-18, the program is offered from 3-5 on weekdays during the Fall semester. Volunteer Opportunities: Volunteers may participate by designing an activity for the kids, sitting in and mentoring a child, or they are able to do a 'structured activity' (i.e. a garden or helping with computer issues in the office, creating presentations, etc., does not necessarily have to involve the kids). There are also occasional special projects, for example every year they make Christmas cards and sell them, etc. and volunteers may participate in that as well. Requirements: There is a volunteer orientation packet. They are pretty flexible, but as with many agencies where children are involved, it is preferred that the volunteer be fairly consistent because kids get attached!!! |
