Welcome to the Lincoln and Douglas are Dead Education Project website, managed by MVLA Speech and Debate.  This website will have news and information relevant to upcoming LDDEP meetings.  LDDEP is an informal LD debate club that holds rounds designed to help debaters practice for invitationals.   Although we took a break during the 2007-2008 school year, meetings will resume in 2009.  It was a great opportunity for up-and-coming debaters who were later immensely successful:  Daniels Moerner, Khalessi, and Garber, as well as Mike Spirtos, were all former participants in LDDEP.  Former judges of LDDEP included Stephen Hess, Patrick Diehl, and Byron Ruby.

We invite all LD debaters in the San Francisco Bay Area to apply!

The following schools have previously participated in LDDEP:

--Mountain View

--Los Altos

--Homestead

--Palo Alto

--Lynbrook

--Menlo-Atherton

--St. Hyphy

If you are interested in participating but have never done so before, please email  lincolnanddouglasaredead AT gmail DOT com.  Space is limited, so we cannot guarantee admission.

There will be a number of preliminary rounds structured like an informal round robin.  If time permits and enough people attend, we will break to finals based on ballot count.

At the moment, space is limited.  We will probably be able to acquire space at Stanford, but it is unclear how much.

Rounds will be conducted primarily for the benefit of younger debaters; well-qualified seniors or current coaches will serve as critics.

We will also experiment with alternative round formats--for instance, 4-minute speeches and rounds in which theory is prohibited.
