In 1997 the Livingston County Chorale’s Board of Directors recognized the need for another singing group in the county to meet the needs of the many talented female singers in the area. This led to the establishment of the Livingston County Women’s Chorus under the direction of Patti Marshall-Doane, who has remained the group’s director since its inception. The Chorus strives to perform a variety of musical genres such as classical (both sacred and secular), folk, jazz, and Broadway show tunes. Since the Women’s Chorus debut concert in December of 1998, the group has performed regularly in the county, often in concert with the Chorale and the Children’s Choir. In spring of 2005, the Women’s Chorus initiated its first Musical Revue concert of popular and Broadway music, a performance tradition that continues biennially, with the next musical revue, The Best of Broadway, to be held on May 2 and 3, 2008. In spring of 2008, the Women’s Chorus proudly celebrated its tenth anniversary in a special concert, A Decade of Song, and we hope to continue fulfilling the musical needs of both singers and audiences in our area for years to come. |
