About LCIS Bands

Located in League City, Texas, south of Houston, the League City Intermediate School band program has come to be recognized as one of the finest band programs in Texas and the United States. It provides instrumental music education through a varied curriculum, including instruction of beginning instrumental skills, development of soloist skills; participation in concert, ensemble and contests.

Emphasis in each band class is on the total musical development of the individual and the ensemble through an instructional program that focuses on tonal, technical, rhythmical, sight-reading and performance skills.

The League City Intermediate Symphonic and Concert I and Concert II bands are consistent winners in concert competitions. The Symphonic Band has performed at the Midwest convention in Chicago. In 2004 the Symphonic Band was selected 1st place in the region, 1st place in Area and 9th in the state for TMEA Honor Band CCC Bands. In 2005 the Symphonic Band received sweepstakes at UIL Concert and Sight-reading, Best in Class and Best Overall Performance at the Directors choice competition in San Antonio.

Individual music achievement and development are the cornerstones upon which the success of the League City Intermediate band program is built. During the 2004-2005 school year 43 League City band students were selected for the All-Region Band, 3 of those students earned the honor of 1st chair region band. At UIL Solo and Ensemble competition in 2005 League City Intermediate band students were awarded 173 individual first division medals, and 168 ensemble medals.

In addition to the musical development of its students, the band program strives to provide a socially supportive environment for all of its members. A well established tradition of student leadership promotes active involvement and gives inspiration to develop devotion and strong regard for the honor of the group. Many students develop strong, life long friendships from being a part of the “League City Intermediate Band family”.
