Cite your sources


If you do not create a works cited page to accompany research, you can be accused of plagiarism/cheating, because you are claiming someone else's ideas as your own.

Teachers at LC are now using a computer program to determine if the work you have submitted is original. They will use this new program to determine if you have copied phrases, sentences, or entire paragraphs from books, websites, and other sources, including your classmates.

Avoid this problem by citing your sources! It is expected that you will need to use someone else's words, work, or ideas when you do research. It is fine to do this as long as you give credit where credit is due.

Use the following tool to help you avoid the serious consequences of plagiarism:



Noodletools will help you to organize your research,
by working with you to create notecards and your works cited page.

Get started with Noodletools:
  1. Click ‘New User Registration’ on the sidebar
  2. If at school, create a personal ID
    1. Use your student ID # for this!
    2. Create a password that you can remember
  3. If at home, you will need a username and password before you can create your own personal ID. See Mrs. Emerick for help with this.
