From the Teacher's Desk Sept 7-11

Hello All!

Each week, I'm hoping to send out an update called "From the Teacher's Desk."  Here you will have some reminders of homework, or events that are happening throughout the week in our room.  If you wish to not be a part of this email list, please let me know!

Hopefully this will help students become more responsible for their homework and learning as well as let parents know what is coming up in the week.  In the past parents have found this very helpful as it allows them a glimpse into their child's week.

Reminder --  Those students who do not hand in homework on the date due will need to stay in at recess to finish.  If something comes up and homework was unable to get completed, (in other words another day is needed) please write a note in your child's agenda.  If due dates change, I will have the students put that into their agendas and I will sign.

This week in Mrs. Chinn's class:

1. Gates testing -- this is to give an idea of what grade level your child is reading at.  This will happen on Tuesday.
2. Health/LA --Students will be finishing their "About Me" presentations to the class.
3. In math -- I have made up booklets for students to work through that consist of grade 4 math review.  This will give me an idea of where to start with each student.  We will also be doing some basic graphing and starting our Smartie Math assignment.  This assignment will be due on Friday, Sept. 11.
4. In LA  we will be learning about how to write a friendly letter.  We will then be starting our letters to our future friends in Holland.  Those students who do not complete the letters in class on Wed, will need to take theirs home as rough drafts are due Thursday.
5. In Art -- we are continuing with our Alliteration Art Folders form last week.
6. In Social we will be creating our covers for our scrapbooks.

Assemblies are on Wednesday mornings 8:33-9:15!

Feel free to email back anytime if you have comments or questions. Hope you all have a wonderful week.
