"It is today we must create the world of the future."
~Eleanor Roosevelt

Hello!  Welcome to my homepage!  My name is Laura Arnebeck and I am currently a senior attending Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota.  I am pursuing a degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Mathematics and Communication Arts/Literature.

Ever since I was in elementary school, my dream has been to become a teacher.  As I became older, I have worked to continue that dream and have been driven by a passion for both children and learning.  I believe that children are the future and I want them to not only succeed in life, but also reach their highest potential.  Education and learning open up a world of limitless possibilities and I believe that each child deserves a chance to be a part of that world.

This past December I finished my student teaching, where I was first in a third grade classroom at Northside Elementary School in St. James, Minnesota, and then in a fifth grade classroom at Cleveland Public School in Cleveland, Minnesota.  For both grades I taught math, reading, handwriting, spelling, and science.  In fifth grade, I also taught literature and grammar, as well as two sessions of science to mixed classes of fifth and sixth graders.  Through this experience, I found that I loved both grades!  The third graders had great enthusiasm and imaginations, while the fifth graders could think on deeper levels and were very independent.  Overall, I had a positive experience and now I am even more eager to help children and teach!
