LIGHTS, CAMERA... ACTION!

Coined as a mix of Bombay and Hollywood - Bollywood - is one of the largest producers of film in the world.  South Asian movies are a hodgepodge of independent film, language-based film, and of course Bollywood. What’s more, there is an immense availability of all types of Indian and South Asian film in Los Angeles. Hopefully this website will serve as a resource to finding, watching, and indulging in all sorts of South Asian cinema. THE HISTORY

Bollywood followed many of the same evolutions as Hollywood. Bollywood is considered "the popular" Indian film speaking that can speak to the  masses. Moving from silent films to sound and color, the "Western" influence in South Asian film is more apparent now than ever before. Mainstream or Bollywood film has often been considered "escapist" with big production numbers of songs and dance, fight scenes, melodrama and comedy... many times all in one film. As an alternativ to that voice there has been a growing audience and niche for art house films.

Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles

Every April IFFLA works to bring the best and brightest stars in Indian cinema to Hollywood. This year is no exception. The sixth annual Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles took place from April 22nd - April 27th at the Arclight Theater in Hollywood. Focusing on the filmmaking process the program consisted of many independent films, documentries, and much much more.
