The Governments of British Columbia and Canada are poised to break ground in the Lower Fraser River Valley on the Pacific Gateway Project. The side effects of this misguided initiative are tremendous for all sectors of our society. The fish and wildlife on the Fraser River and in the Estuary will be further compromised. More farmland, streams and wilderness areas will be reduced or obliterated. A massive peat bog and carbon sink called Burns Bog will be impacted. More vehicle traffic and unwanted development will be encouraged, creating more greenhouse gases. More First Nations sacred and archeological sites will be covered over. Noise, pollution and human frustration levels will certainly grow. We urge you to sign the petition and send Premier Campbell and Prime Minister Harper the supporting letter.
