Larraitz Uria Garin Basque
I'm member of the IXA research group at the University of the Basque Country and the IKER research group at the university of Bayonne (France).
In the IXA group, we work on
Natural Language Processing (NLP), also known as Computational
Linguistics. We analyse the Basque language and develop techniques and applications for processing our language with computers. In the IKER group I participate in the TSABL project (Towards a Syntactic Atlas of the Basque Language) project which aims to study the syntactic alternation in the dialects of the Northern Basque Country. I presented my PhD thesis on 9th December, 2009. I wrote it under the supervision of Montse Maritxalar and Igone Zabala. It is focused on Automatic Error Treatment and Intelligent Computer Assisted Language Learning (ICALL) for Basque and it is entitled: An environment for the analysis of errors and deviations in Basque. Analysis and automatic treatment of determiner errors (Euskarazko erroreen eta desbideratzeen analisirako lan-ingurunea. Determinatzaile-erroreen azterketa eta prozesamendua). Nowadays, I am employed by the IKERBASQUE Foundation and I am working in Bayonne, as a postdoc researcher, in the "Analysis and processing of the dialects spoken in Northern Basque Country" project.
