The mighty Amazon: browsers may be perturbed to see Lapwing titles 'out of stock' or 'not in stock' on the Amazon listings. The simple reason is that Amazon does not actually stock Lapwing titles. But that does not mean a work is unavailable, just that Amazon in these instances can't mail it from their warehouses. It would be nice of course to supply stock to any distributor for 'holding' but Lapwing and most other small presses simply cannot afford the high inventory and production costs involved. That's one reason why the book trade in general has been going through volcanic eruptions and no publisher can afford to wait years sometimes for sales income to be realised or non-sale 'returns' to be received. |  |
