Academic interests

My main interest is Montagnard history, traditions, cultures, legends, riddles, languages, music, and other aspects of the Montagnard ways of life. In the past few years, I have been recording the Jarai language including conversations, stories, legends, grammars, and vocabularies in an attempt to preserve the language and the rich cultural elements associated with it.

This work led to the development of my thesis entitled "Developing the First Prelimary Dictionary of North American Jarai," which includes discussion of the Jarai migration to the United States, Jarai linguistic description, methods used to develop the dictionary, and finally the Jarai-English dictionary.

I am in the process of revising the dictionary with the hope that I will be able to get it published. The dictionary consists of lexeme, part of speech, definition or gloss, example sentence in Jarai and translation of the example sentence in English. My hope is that this dictionary will be useful to Jarai speakers, Jarai language learners, and those who are interested in researching the Jarai language.
